Insurance
Health insurance/KSK
- Students are usually covered by family insurance through the GKV (statutory health insurance) until the age of 25 (if their monthly income is up to €538).
- This is followed by statutory student insurance, which ends on your 30th birthday (extension possible).
- Important: You can work up to a maximum of 20 hours per week during the semester, annual income limits must be observed, after which you must continue to be insured on a “voluntary” basis.
- Under certain circumstances, health, nursing care, and pension insurance may also be available through the Artists‘ Social Insurance Fund (KSK).
- Prerequisite: artistic/creative self-employment, i.e., working on account.
- KSK is compulsory insurance for so-called freelance (artistic/creative) activities after graduation.
Personal liability insurance
- Important insurance that covers damage claims (strongly recommended).
- Personal liability insurance is available from around €15 per year.
- The student services organization offers liability insurance for students (including guest students).
>More information on insurance conditions and exclusions can be found here.
Accident insurance
According to the Social Security Code, students are legally covered by accident insurance if they are enrolled at a state-recognized university, college, or technical college. Insurance coverage is free of charge for them.
